The monkey temple (Swayambhu) in Kathmandu stands on a hill with overview on the whole city. Quite a touristic spot, but monkeys and souvenirs shop aside, there’s a nice art school for mandala and Buddhist deities paintings.
It’s striking the difference between students, professional and masters made mandalas, even for the inexpert eye. Beautiful artwork! Over budget for me unfortunately. Then again, the combination of minimalism and travelling doesn’t call for shopping. 😉
